The proposal for the Primary Care Center is organized around a comb-shaped functional scheme, which arranges the main areas compactly in each wing and connects them through a longitudinal axis where the vertical circulation cores and common spaces are located. The ground floor hosts the areas with the highest footfall, the first floor contains the consultation rooms, and the top floor houses the restricted-access areas. The building is set on a flat site, with the main façade facing Onze de Setembre Avenue and the main entrance on the corner with Jaume Balmes Street, while the secondary façades provide permeability and integration with the adjacent streets. The architectural quality relies on two key aspects: the introduction of courtyards for natural lighting and ventilation, ensuring brightness and comfort in consultation rooms, waiting areas, and corridors, and a continuous ceramic envelope punctured to meet specific lighting and privacy needs. From a sustainability perspective, the functional scheme optimizes circulation and minimizes circulation areas, while the courtyards act as bioclimatic buffers. On the passive side, rational construction methods and a ventilated façade with continuous insulation reduce energy consumption and ensure efficiency throughout the building’s life cycle.
