The building is part of the former Asylum complex of the Granollers Hospital. It is a Modernist construction from the early 20th century by architect Josep Mª Miró i Guibernau, listed as a Local Cultural Heritage Asset.
The change of use to accommodate a new academic function in the field of medicine prompted the building’s restoration.
The intervention includes the restoration of the building and the reinforcement of the roof structure, creating a new attic-level space to house the library and the main lecture hall, while showcasing the original trusses that had remained hidden in the old loft.
